Potsdam – The director of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), Patricia Schlesinger, who was fired without notice, has commented on the controversial practice of having dinner in her private apartment at the broadcaster’s expense.
In an interview with the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit”, the 61-year-old said: “I have settled everything to the best of my knowledge.” Schlesinger has been criticized for allegations of felt and nepotism. This also includes the controversial dinners, which, according to media reports, are said to have been incorrectly billed. Schlesinger rejected allegations of felt. An independent law firm investigation is underway.
Regarding the selection of guests and the topics at the dinners, she said: “There were people from politics, business, culture, from institutions and authorities sitting at the table, so we talked about politics, business, culture and public broadcasting. What is good, what is bad? Such conversations have fluid transitions.”
After the allegations against Schlesinger became known, Berlin’s police chief Barbara Slowik spoke up. She had therefore been a guest at such a dinner. Slowik emphasized that she herself had the impression that it was a private dinner. She was not aware that these should have been settled at the expense of the broadcaster.
Schlesinger said when asked about Slowik’s impression: “All guests received the same invitation. It didn’t say anything about a night out with friends, let alone a housewarming, it definitely didn’t mention that. Interesting, multi-faceted personalities have come together in this way.” dpa
