The children's film festival "Schlingel" is again focusing on film experiences in the cinema this year and wants to bring more international guests to Chemnitz.
Chemnitz – The cinema has a completely different power and effect than showing films online, emphasized festival director Michael Harbauer at the presentation of the program on Wednesday. This would not only bring people together and encourage exchange, but filmmakers could also experience how their films are received by the audience.
The festival is to open on October 9th in the Chemnitz Opera House. According to the information, the program this year offers around 200 films from almost 50 countries. Many of them are international or German premieres. The Finnish-Lithuanian film “Vinski and the Invisibility Powder” and “Karlchen – The Great Birthday Adventure” by director Michael Ekbladh will be shown for the first time.
The festival is in its 26th edition and will last until October 16th. In the previous year, it had around 13,000 visitors (2019: 25,000) despite strong corona restrictions. Numerous international guests had not been able to come to Saxony, unlike usual. dpa
