Several dead in a serious traffic accident in Cairo

Within a few days, another tragic accident occurs on the expressway known as the Ring Road in Cairo – 19 people are killed.

Cairo – At least 19 people were killed in a serious accident in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

A truck switched to the opposite lane on an expressway and collided with a minibus, as the state news website Al-Ahram reported. The driver of the minibus and most of the passengers were therefore dead on the spot. The prosecutor announced an investigation.

It was the second fatal accident on the expressway known as the Ring Road in a matter of days. Two days earlier, a truck crashed into a bus there, two people died and eight others were injured. The Ring Road leads in a large circle around Cairo and is one of the most important expressways in the Egyptian metropolis.

In Egypt there are often serious traffic accidents. The main reasons are human error and technical defects in the vehicles. Many people do not wear their seat belts when driving or go without motorcycle helmets, regulations are hardly or not at all enforced. dpa
