Space X, the space company founded by American tech entrepreneur and mogul Elon Musk , has announced that it is putting two people into orbit of the Moon . It will do so at the end of 2018, and the lucky astronauts will be two clients who have already paid a deposit for being the first tourists to see our satellite up close.
The journey will be made aboard the Dragon 2 spacecraft, which Space X is developing for NASA, and the launch will be carried out with the Falcon Heavy rocket, manufactured one hundred percent with funds from the firm and which will make its first tests during the next summer.
The space business
Elon Musk himself announced the event on Twitter, and stated in a subsequent press conference that the two astronauts already knew each other personally. He also joked that they had nothing to do with Hollywood, adding that “we hope to do more than one mission of this type.” In fact, more people have been interested in joining the list.
We do not know how much travelers to lunar orbit will pay in total, but Space X has revealed that medical tests and intensive training will begin at the end of 2017 that will allow them to complete the trip with guarantees.
Space X, founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, is trying to lead the private space transportation business and has already made history. It works with NASA and sends supplies to the International Space Station through its Dragon ships. Among its successes, the reusable Falcon 9 rockets stand out, which will significantly lower trips to space. The firm is the only private company that has managed to send a rocket into low orbit and retrieve it for subsequent launches.
Elon Musk, who works on other technology projects such as electric cars and futuristic trains, places many of his ambitions in space, and says he dreams of helping humans to live on other planets.
