Three out of four users of social networks in Spain do not take any precautions with the personal data they are sharing on Facebook . This is pointed out by a recent study carried out by the company secure.me based on data from 75,000 users of this social network in 11 European countries. 33% of women and 52% of men have their entire public profile, which means that anyone can consult it. The report shows that 76% of Spanish users publish personal details on their profiles , be it the city in which they live, their political ideology, their family members or their emotional status. The company points out that the more open information is shared, the more vulnerable users will be to data theft and identity theft .
On the other hand, the report indicates that we are more cautious when publishing the date of birth than the rest of Europeans (54% of Spanish users compared to 78% of Swiss, for example). However, of all the users analyzed, we are the most likely to publicly share the sentimental situation : 60% of Spaniards show it on their Facebook profile compared to 24% of Russians or 39% of Austrians. We are also in the lead when it comes to posting spam. When it comes to sharing malicious applications on the TimeLine , only the French (36%) outnumber Spanish users (34%).
