Weiden – After an attack with a 90 centimeter long sword in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate, a 65-year-old woman was taken to a psychiatric clinic. She is suspected of suddenly attacking three men on Tuesday afternoon.
The allegation is attempted murder in conjunction with dangerous bodily harm and violation of the weapons law, as the police announced on Wednesday. There is a suspicion of a psychiatric illness.
The men attacked are 46, 58 and 61 years old. The 61-year-old suffered a cut on his arm that required surgery. The 46-year-old was treated as an outpatient because of a superficial cut in the hospital, the 58-year-old was physically unharmed.
A restaurant worker rushed to help the three men. According to the police, they overpowered the attacker together. Officers later found two machetes, an ax and several knives in her car.
The suspect, who is a German citizen, is said to have tried to injure a 63-year-old man in another place in Bavaria on Monday – possibly with the sword used in Weiden. dpa
