In Kiel, it’s now a done deal: women are allowed to jump into the water topless in public pools.
Kiel – The city of Kiel has changed the clothing regulations for the city’s pools so that bathing and swimming without a top will also be expressly permitted for women in the future.
So far, the rules have said that normal swimwear must be worn. The council replaced this wording by resolution at a meeting on Thursday with the wording that it is appropriate to wear swimwear that covers at least the primary sexual characteristics. Breasts are not included.
The reason given was that the previous regulation could unsettle bathers and staff and put people at a disadvantage. For several months there has been a discussion across Germany as to whether female breasts must always be covered in swimming pools. Several media had previously reported on the decision. dpa
