Australia honors the Queen with a very special illumination. The world-famous opera house is all about commemoration.

Sydney – As a sign of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch’s face was projected onto the sails of the world-famous Sydney Opera House on Friday evening (local time). The black and white portrait shows the monarch smiling with a tiara and white robe.

The rest of the sails of the normally white building were illuminated black. The Queen’s face will be on display at the opera until midnight. Another projection is planned for Saturday evening. The Sydney Opera House is one of the symbols of the Australian metropolis. Australia is part of the Commonwealth. dpa
