Dolphins speak

Who doesn't know someone who talks in their dreams at night? People rearrange our ideas while we sleep, and sleep is said to play an important role in fixing information and assimilating new knowledge. Something like this could happen with dolphins, as has been confirmed by a group of ethologists from the "Wild Planet" dolphinarium in Port-Saint-Père (France).

Is the dolphin as intelligent as man?

The intelligence of dolphins is enigmatic and we do not yet know their real capacity. They have complex brain structures that in humans and apes are associated with social skills and empathy, and their brain is the largest in the animal kingdom in relation to the size of their body.

How do dolphins sleep?

When it comes to taking a nap, dolphins have several alternatives. They are often seen taking turns sleeping in pairs, so that one dolphin sleeps with the other dolphin being carried away by the wake, which keeps it moving and alert to any danger. But undoubtedly the most surprising thing about these marine mammals is their ability to put half the brain asleep and stay awake with the opposite hemisphere.

Dolphins will help understand human diseases

What do humans and dolphins have in common? Many things, but fundamentally that these cetaceans can help us understand many human diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, according to a study carried out by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Department of the United States (NOAA) and presented during the annual conference of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
