If we believed that there was nothing else that could surprise us about this "smart substance" that is breast milk, research on its composition continues to amaze us in terms of its enormous benefits. And that we still do not know all of them.

Breast milk contains beneficial microorganisms for the development of the immune system. For this reason, feeding a baby in his first month of life will have a decisive influence on the health of the rest of his life. Now, it has also been discovered that the lower bacterial diversity of babies makes them more likely to develop allergies during infancy.

The myths around breastfeeding are innumerable and many focus on breastfeeding: take this or another food to increase milk production, avoid these other that produce gases, drink more or less fluids ... Recently, several mothers have commented that they stopped drinking milk to avoid a possible intolerance to cow's milk proteins in their babies.

Some of the myths that circulate around breastfeeding is one that ensures that small breasts do not produce enough milk. But nothing is further from the truth, since the size of the breasts is not linked to a greater or lesser success in breastfeeding.

With high temperatures, one of the most frequent concerns among parents is the fear that the baby could become dehydrated if water is not offered, but it is important to know that even if it is very hot, it is not necessary to give the babies water before the six months.

It is a fairly common problem: the mother tries to express breast milk with a breast pump after breastfeeding her baby to increase its production, but when she sees that the bottle does not fill or does it very slowly, she becomes frustrated.

The unique protection that breast milk affords babies stems from the symbiotic relationships between its different components and the interaction between them and the newborn, which makes each lactation unique.

We know that the WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding for six months and accompanied by other foods for up to two years or more, whenever the mother and baby wish. Unfortunately, this is sometimes difficult, because in our country at the moment maternity leave is 16 weeks (slightly less than four months).
