A ride in a stolen BMW ends in a police chase through Frankfurt for four teenagers. The officers later discover more crimes.
Frankfurt – A group of teenagers got into a lot of trouble on Wednesday (01/19/2022). The four underage boys were traveling in a BMW in the Frankfurt district of Griesheim when they got caught in a police check. They tried to drive away, but their escape attempt failed a little later. Not the only crime related to the BMW, the police said.
The Frankfurt police patrol noticed the BMW around 12:40 p.m. on Mainzer Landstrasse. The officers wanted to stop the vehicle for a general traffic check. But the driver didn’t respond to the police stop signals – and drove undeterred towards the Zum Linnegraben intersection. There he suddenly pressed the gas.

The BMW first turned onto the road to the Linnegraben. He drove over the sidewalk and rammed a traffic sign and a fence. Undeterred by the collisions, the driver continued to sprint away from the police. Two other accidents – this time with parked cars – and a pedestrian crossing the road did not bring the driver to a stop. Finally, the driver drove into Denisweg and there 150 meters across a meadow. The driver finally stopped here. Four young people who wanted to continue their escape on foot got out of the car. Two escaped, the other two were arrested by the police.
It quickly turned out that the BMW had been stolen in Worms in December. However, the car now had license plates from Kelkheim that were also stolen. In the BMW itself, the police discovered other stolen license plates. The BMW was also involved in another crime: A few days after the theft, a fuel fraud at a gas station was committed. And finally, officers found a small amount of marijuana on one of the 16-year-olds. The police have started an investigation to clarify the exact background. (pron)
