Telcel will invest 1,800 million dollars to deploy the 5G service in Mexico

The race for the development of fifth generation networks is official. Telcel launched its 5G technology in Mexico, whose deployment in the first 18 cities in the country will require an investment of 1.8 billion dollars. Daniel Hajj, CEO of América Móvil, explained that the 18 cities that already have 5G, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Querétaro, will provide coverage to more than 48 million Mexicans. These users will be potential consumers of Telcel to migrate to the fifth technological generation.

He added that on February 28 they will launch postpaid plans for 5G and will have equipment from companies Samsung, Huawei, Honor, Nokia, Xiaomi, Oppo, among others.

In recent days, América Móvil obtained the approval of the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) to offer 5G mobile services in Mexico, after it modified 18 concession titles of Carlos Slim's company to use, take advantage of and exploit spectrum frequency bands. radio that operates in the 3450-3550 MHz segment. Telcel will pay 900 million pesos per year for payment of spectrum rights, whose resources will go to the State.
