Paris – After several mild weeks in October, temperatures of up to 30 degrees are expected in France. In the south-west of the country it could be 27 to 30 degrees warm at the weekend, the weather service Météo France reported. At the border with Spain, the values could even climb over 30 degrees.
Mild air from the Canaries and the Iberian Peninsula ensures temperatures that are four to five degrees above the usual seasonal figures. Temperature records have been broken in a number of places over the past few days.
As the weather service emphasized, the warm weather episode also occurred against the background of visible climate change. Not only are heat waves becoming more frequent and intense, they are also coming earlier and later, like this week. dpa
