This extra can be updated now in the United States for models manufactured after 2004, and in Europe and Asia, starting this week. Autosteer allows the Tesla vehicle to manage speed and braking when necessary. It also allows you to keep the vehicle in its lane even when cornering, although at the moment it will not be able to detect traffic lights. Tesla's autopilot will be able to change lanes only when instructed to do so by the driver and if it detects that the maneuver is safe to perform. In addition, the function will allow the car to search for parking spaces and park in parallel when it finds one available.
This software update does not make it a proper autonomous vehicle, although the improvements go in this direction. In the next update, which is still in the testing phase, it will allow you to leave the car in a garage and either park itself or come and pick us up at the entrance.
