The Mazda CX-60 achieves a 5-star Euro NCAP rating

The new Mazda CX-60 has received the maximum rating of five stars in the latest series of Euro NCAP tests, with scores of 91% and 88% in the child and adult occupant protection categories, respectively. An impressive 89% score was also achieved in the area of protecting vulnerable road users (pedestrians). The Mazda CX-60 achieved top marks in crash tests based on 6- and 10-year-olds, in both frontal and side impact variants. Within the child occupant protection block, the CRS child restraint system test also received top marks, contributing to an excellent combined score of 91% in the category .

The rating in the Adult Occupant Protection category of 88% was also very impressive, with top scores in the side impact tests and an excellent level of protection in the fixed frontal barrier impact test. In the mobile and fixed side barrier tests -the latter being more demanding-, the vehicle’s protection was correct in all the critical areas of the human body, which resulted in the maximum score in this chapter. In the category of Protection of vulnerable road users, the new Mazda CX-60 achieved an impressive 89%. The excellent performance of the Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) made the result one of the highest of all vehicles tested since the last Euro NCAP assessments.

After testing, Mazda’s new large-format SUV joins the club of models that have already earned five Euro NCAP stars , made up of the CX-5 (2017), Mazda6 (2018), Mazda3 and CX-30 ( both in 2019) and the MX-30 (2020).

The Mazda CX-60’s results were impressive in all four Euro NCAP test categories: Adult occupants: 88%; Child occupants: 91%; Vulnerable road users (pedestrian protection): 89%; and Security assistance: 76%. One of the elements that has contributed to this rating is the Skyactiv Scalable Multi-Solution Architecture, which provides numerous improvements that result in outstanding dynamic performance. Likewise, the advanced i-Activsense driver assistance safety technologies that equip the vehicle have also been important.

A number of new technologies, such as TAP (Intersection Assist), SBS-R (City Rear Brake Assist with Pedestrian Recognition) and BSM (with Vehicle Exit Assist), help drivers identify potential hazards and reduce the likelihood of vehicle damage or occupant injury, while providing an excellent level of pedestrian protection.

Mazda vehicles are famous for their extraordinary dynamic behavior, which has evolved again with the new Mazda CX-60. The Skyactiv Scalable Multi-Solution Architecture takes the brand’s human-centric approach to a new dimension, not forgetting the rigidity of the body, so that the driver can feel the response of the car without any delay. Thanks to the design of the seats, it is easier for all occupants to maintain their balance while the car is moving.

In addition, the vehicle is equipped with Kinematic Posture Control (KPC), a Mazda-exclusive poise control system. All of these elements make the car easier to drive, which in turn reduces the chance of accidents without affecting traditional Mazda driving pleasure.
