The origins of Apple

The illusion of three entrepreneurs with brilliant minds was the origin of Apple Computer Inc , which was born in 1976 in Cupertino (California). Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne combined their knowledge to create the company that would revolutionize the world.

Apple’s startups were humble, since they did not have much financial investment. In the absence of resources, Steve Jobs himself had to sell his Volkswagen van and Steve Wozniak an HP-65 calculator . Ron Wayne, however, decided to leave the company only two weeks after its creation, pressured by fear of losing his initial investment of 800 euros. Despite the few days that I was part of the project, he had time to design the first logo of the company, which consisted of a pen drawing with India ink that represented Isaac Newton leaning on an apple tree. A year later this logo was replaced by the now mythical bitten apple , which, unlike today, had colored stripes.

The two entrepreneurs left to run the company, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, complemented their respective talents to perfection. Wozniak was an engineering genius and Jobs was a visionary in the business world, a key piece in Apple’s blazing success because, in the words of his partner: “It’s not enough to create, you have to know how to sell.”

The first product they launched on the market was the Apple I. His idea was to create a personal computer that was comfortable and affordable. It was designed by Steve Wozniak and it was basically a prototype. Only 175 units were sold and the price was $ 666.66. A copy of this model was recently auctioned for $ 375,000.

The first personal computer in history

Only a year later the Apple II went on sale, which had many improvements over its predecessor, such as the ability to reproduce color graphics . Equipped with VisiCalc , a kind of spreadsheet, it was intended to turn it into a computer that would be useful for business. It went on the market with a price of 1,298 dollars and managed to sell about 5 million copies . The Apple II is considered the first personal computer in history .

Apple’s true revolution came in 1984, with the launch of the Macintosh, designed by Jeff Raskin. It was first featured at the 1984 Superbowl , with an ad directed by celebrated director Ridley Scott, a spot considered one of the best of all time. One of the main novelties of the Macintosh was the incorporation of the mouse, as well as the possibility of using desktop publishing, which allowed you to design a document before converting it to paper. The market price was around $ 2,500. It was the first computer to reach the masses, and to become essential in many offices around the world.

Without a doubt, the world of technology that we have today would not be the same without the existence of Apple. The company of the genius Jobs completely revolutionized the world with the presentation of its products over the years such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod and Apple Watch. To her we owe the existence of personal computers and their access for all audiences, not only for computer scientists. The history of the company is the life of two friends who, with their ingenuity, their originality, their courage and above all their enthusiasm, managed to make the world a little more comfortable.
