Almost 5.5 million viewers enjoyed the cross-culture comedy “Servus, Son-in-Law!” In 2019. In the sequel “Servus, mother-in-law!”, Uninvited visitors lead to a marriage crisis.
Berlin – Not a nice autumn day for Toni Freitag (Adnan Maral): His daughter Franzi (Lena Meckel) and her husband Osman (Aram Arami) bring uninvited visitors from Berlin to Bergham in Bavaria, namely Franzi’s mother-in-law Farah (Siir Eloglu).
She has left her stubborn husband and the bridal shop in the capital in the lurch and intends to stay indefinitely. That brings the ideal world of the shooter king Toni a lot upset – and then he should also be the new mayor. Enough fuel for the comedy “Servus, mother-in-law!” On Friday at 8:15 pm in the first.
Almost five and a half million viewers enjoyed themselves in autumn 2019 in the cross-culture comedy “Servus, Son-in-Law!” With Adnan Maral in the role of a model Bavarian of Turkish origin. Director Sinan Batteries (50, “Your last will can do me!”) Staged the sequel in a very contemplative and unfortunately rather bumpy manner. The dialogues come rather laboriously from the lips of the actors, the already tepid story is told rather lamely.
Only the topic is somewhat convincing: equality between men and women, regardless of whether they have German, Turkish or completely different roots. Common behavioral patterns in our society – men do their thing, women stuck back and toil – are nicely exposed and fortunately not whitewashed by the warm light of early autumn.
Toni’s wife has been replaced: Victoria Mayer (45, “Play”) is a completely different type, but an excellent successor to Jule Ronstedt. Mayer uses her role opportunities as a smart and strong wife and mother and is even allowed to develop political ambitions. She is even running for mayoral election, and her program is not about a new shooting club, but a children’s home.
However, it is to be expected that the increasing replacement of individual main characters in German series or series by other actors – such as “Die Eifelpraxis” (Das Erste) or “Der Erzgebirgskrimi” (ZDF) – will certainly confuse some viewers.
Adnan Maral (53, “Stenzels Bescherung”), initiator and also producer of the two “Servus” films, portrays the allegedly perfectly integrated Bavarian Turk who also likes to appear as a boss and “pascha” (which he does is not), still with obvious enthusiasm. Siir Eloglu (55, “Matze, Kebab and Sauerkraut”) is not a real opponent as a “Turkish feminist” (especially since she is “only” the mother of his son-in-law), if only because she seems far too friendly and amiable.
And so the film title is by no means to be understood as a farewell or disapproval, but rather as a greeting – one does not wish to see this mother-in-law in the distance. dpa
