Update from September 11: 9.45 a.m .: Events in London and Scotland had rolled over on Thursday, the death of the Queen put the country in a real state of emergency. The Queen’s family was mostly late, Prince Harry apparently had to travel separately. The reason should now be clear.

Thursday’s schedule of events shows how quickly the royal family must have reacted once the events became known. Queen Elizabeth’s doctors issued a statement on Thursday afternoon saying they were concerned about the Queen’s health. Barely 15 minutes after the public was informed, Prince Charles’ office announced that he and his wife Camilla had made their way to Balmoral Castle. Ultimately, it was Prince Charles and Princess Anne who stood by the Queen in her final hours. Meanwhile, Prince William and Prince Harry were late, and the Queen died before her grandchildren could say goodbye. However, Thursday’s schedule now raises questions, a British newspaper reports.

As the Sun reports, a detail of the protocol is said to be to blame for Prince Harry arriving at Balmoral Castle much later than his relatives. Just a minute after Prince Charles’ office announced his arrival in Balmoral, Prince William’s office also announced that the prince was on his way to visit his grandmother. About 60 minutes later, a spokesman for Prince Harry also announced this. At 3:50 p.m. UK time, the Royal Air Force plane landed in Aberdeen, Scotland, with Prince William, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward on board. Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie, is also on the plane. Not on board: Prince Harry. As reported by the British Sun , the Queen’s grandson was not allowed to enter the machine and had to travel separately. The reason for this is that the two princes should not sit together on an airplane. In the event of an accident, only one of the two grandchildren would die, in which case the succession to the throne would be secured.

At around 4:30 p.m., Prime Minister Truss was informed of the death of the Queen. It is not yet known when the exact time of the Queen’s death was. Just a few minutes later, around 5:05 p.m. local time, the car with Prince William, Andrew, Edward and Sophie arrives at the castle. Prince Harry was also late, arriving at the castle much later than his relatives.
