Due to the increased number of infections, the federal government classifies parts of France as high-risk areas. These include popular tourist destinations such as the island of Corsica and the overseas Guadeloupe.
Berlin – The south of France has been a high-risk corona area since midnight.
The federal government classified the French regions of Occitania, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and the island of Corsica and also the French overseas territories of Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, St. Martin and St. Barthélemy accordingly due to the increased number of infections. Returnees who have not been vaccinated or have recovered now have to be in quarantine in Germany and can end this at the earliest after five days with a negative test.
Netherlands no longer high risk area
For the Netherlands, this restriction did not apply on Sunday. After a decline in the number of infections, the country is no longer a high-risk area, with the exception of the parts of the country overseas. In the Netherlands, new infections are falling drastically after the government has restricted the nightlife in particular. France, on the other hand, is in a fourth corona wave. Within a week, around 225 people per 100,000 inhabitants were most recently infected.
Since Sunday, several other countries outside of Europe have also been considered high-risk areas: Algeria, Bangladesh, Haiti, Honduras, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Korea (Democratic People’s Republic), Morocco, Mexico, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Senegal, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Trinidad Tobago, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Tested, vaccinated or recovered
People entering Germany from a high-risk area must complete a digital entry form. For a week now, everyone over the age of twelve has had to be able to prove when entering Germany that they have either tested negative for the coronavirus, vaccinated against Covid-19 or have recovered.
“Children under the age of twelve are exempt from the obligation to test, but not from the obligation to quarantine. However, children under the age of twelve can end the quarantine five days after entry – even without a test, “writes the federal government in a note on the new rules for entering and returning to Germany. dpa
