They filter Grand Theft Auto VI and thus affects the developer studio

This Sunday, the video game industry experienced one of its most controversial moments due to the leak suffered by the video game Grand Theft Auto VI , which is being developed by Rockstar Games and is one of the most anticipated titles by fans.

The leaked videos were published on different internet platforms, from YouTube, Twitter and even on Reddit , where important characteristics of the game were detailed, such as the fact that the main character will be a woman, as well as the possible city where it will be set, which will be similar to Vice City (one of the iconic settings of this franchise).

The journalist specializing in video games, Jason Schreier, has already confirmed that the leak of the videos is real; However, he also highlighted that it could be an early version of the development, probably from 2017, as according to other reports, the game began its work as early as 2014, a year after GTA V was released.

But these types of leaks have a deeper effect on video game companies, says Schreier, who even described this case as one of the biggest in history and a total “nightmare” for Rockstar Games.

So far no more information is known about the stage of development in which GTA VI is found, however, the reporter affirms that this leak will hinder the pace of work, since the studio will have to investigate the matter and find a solution to its problem. security problem.

“For those who have asked: there are several reasons why this is a nightmare for Rockstar. One is that it is going to interrupt work for a while. The other is that it could lead the administration to limit the flexibility of working from home,” he wrote on Twitter.

For its part, Rockstar Games issued a statement accepting that it has suffered illegal access and downloading of its confidential information, in addition to the fact that this problem will not have a long-term impact on its services or projects.

“Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to providing you, our players, with an experience that truly exceeds your expectations,” the company said.

It is worth mentioning that the alleged leaker of all this information also claims to have been the person responsible for the recent Twitter hack and allegedly had access to GTA data, through the Slack account of a Rockstar employee.

After the data became public, the hacker expressed his interest in selling the source code of GTA V; however, it was also reported that he was seeking to reach a monetary agreement with Rockstar to prevent the release of more information.

The reason this is one of the biggest data leaks in the gaming world is because GTA VI is one of the most highly anticipated titles and is even estimated to bring in $3.5 billion in launch bookings and a average of 2,000 million annually from its publication, according to data from Bank of America.
