Currently the debate over whether artificial intelligence and robotics will kill some jobs and replace humans in certain tasks is hotter than ever. What professions will be ‘saved’? Which ones will begin to be performed by machines? What other trades will emerge from this new paradigm?
Generally, it is ensured that the most mechanical and repetitive jobs could be the most affected and that those that require more creativity or human touch will continue to exist. But what if machines can fill in some creative tasks too? Some AIs have shown their ability to create works of art or dresses if given certain parameters or taught certain styles.
And that is what could happen in the future even with graphic design . Currently it is already possible that an artificial intelligence can generate a logo for a business or project based on the indications given by a client. The tool, called Logo-Maker, has been launched by the freelance professional recruitment platform Fiverr .
You put the data and the app puts the design
As indicated on its website, Logo-Maker is capable of “making a professional logo with just a few clicks”. And that’s right: it doesn’t take a couple of minutes to get multiple suggestions.
To start its creative process, the tool asks users for certain information. First, obviously, they should include your brand or company name and a tagline, if they have one. In addition, they have to indicate the industry in which they operate (they can put up to 3) and write those keywords or tags that best describe their activity, products, services or project (in this case, the more they put, the better). All these data must be entered in English.
Next, you access a section in which you have to choose the values that best represent the brand. Thus, service users have to choose whether their business is more classic or modern, accessible or premium , fun or serious, simple or sophisticated, and traditional or innovative. To specify the level between each of these binomials there are some sliders.
Everything would be ready. You just have to click on the Make My Logo button and wait a few seconds. In a short time, the app will offer several logo proposals. A dozen appear by default, but more can be ordered.
Ideal for a ‘fix’
“This product is for businesses that are a quick ‘DIY’ solution to making a logo,” explains Gali Arnon, Marketing Director at Fiverr.
At the moment the results offered by this tool are very limited and far removed from a professional job , since the results are repeated for different brands or companies, so graphic designers and advertising agencies can breathe easy. But what if a more complete and advanced technology of this type is launched in the future?
The creators of the application point in this direction. From Fiverr they ensure that their logo generator will better adjust to the user’s visual preferences and will learn about the design aesthetics of different individual industries as more and more users use it.
