Summer is coming, and with it those unwanted visitors to our homes: mosquitoes. These insects, besides being very annoying, transmit some of the most serious diseases for man, such as dengue or yellow fever. In fact, it is estimated that there are more deaths associated with mosquitoes than with any other animal in the world.
Maybe you did not know, but there are more than one mosquitoes. And it is that around 3,500 different species have been described around the world. In Spain lately we are very concerned about the tiger mosquito ( Aedes albopictus ), which is spreading throughout America and Europe as an invasive species. It is a carrier of viral diseases and its bite is very annoying.
How do mosquitoes detect us?
Well, the thing is quite sophisticated. An article published in the journal Current Biology relates how male mosquitoes use triple technology to besiege their victims: olfactory, visual and thermal. When they are more than 10 meters away, they detect us by CO2. As they get closer, they see us, and when they are less than a meter away, the body heat that we emit ends up guiding them towards us.
Given this elaborate attack strategy, surely you are already thinking about how to deal with mosquitoes and what type of repellent to use. This year, Bloom brings us an innovative solution: Bloom Home Control , the world’s first smart insecticide.
It is an electric insecticide liquid diffuser that has been manufactured from a more effective formula against mosquitoes, and it can also be controlled through the smartphone. Thus, just as we can now regulate the heating and program other actions in our homes through an app, with Bloom Home Control we can also activate our “anti-mosquito plan” even when we are not at home.
Bloom Home Control incorporates a series of very practical functions: you can turn it on and off from outside the home, darken the diffuser light or activate the timer. In addition, with its smart planner you can choose the day, time and intensity at which you want the diffuser to activate.
If you are not sure when it is more convenient to activate the system, do not worry! With the Accuweather service feature you can predict the intensity of mosquitoes in your area and adjust the diffuser accordingly.
As in most homes several diffusers are installed in different parts of the house, you can include them all in the app and control them individually, or grouped by rooms.
In addition, the device is controllable from more than one smartphone at the same time , so it is fully adaptable to the needs of each family.
Thus, this summer, when you leave home or go on vacation, you can protect your home from mosquitoes comfortably and without headaches.
