The World View Enterprises is the American company that has been operating in the space exploration industry for 10 years and that after announcing the possibility of traveling to space by hot air balloon, now advances the date of when it will be possible and also reveals the price that it would cost us one of his space trips in a balloon .
This is what it will cost to travel to space in a hot air balloon
If you are a space lover and want to book a space flight that will not resemble the recent flights of space tourists from companies such as the famous Blue Origin by Jeff Bezos , you should note the possibility of traveling by balloon to space , something that for the World View Enterprises company will be possible from the year 2024 , but yes, paying a figure not suitable for everyone’s pocket.
Reserving one of the tickets for the first scheduled flight of a hot air balloon into space will cost us nothing more and nothing less than 50,000 dollars (about 44,000 euros). The capsule that will accommodate a maximum of 8 people will reach an altitude of 30 kilometers and, for this reason, the journey will last from six to eight hours. In this case, the ship in which the tourists will travel will be transported to the sky by a giant balloon, along the lines of a hot air balloon.
A new space tourism
According to NASA data, only after reaching 50 miles of altitude (80 kilometers) can we speak of space. On the other hand, the trip offered by World View would allow tourists to observe the curvature of the Earth and the darkness that looms over our planet. In addition, the company revealed that it is working to offer another great experience: five-day trips flying over places famous for their historical, cultural and natural value, such as the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt, and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Unlike Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin, the adventure proposed by World View will be calm and without any difficulties. Ryan Hartman, CEO of the company, admitted that the ambition behind this proposal is “to change the conversation around space tourism.”
From his point of view, reaching the stratosphere is not the result of a simple walk, but a “much larger and more important” journey. The difference lies precisely in the meaning that Hartman gives to the project: “We are redefining space tourism so that participants who spend hours before reaching the apogee can preserve the memory of some of the most magnificent wonders of the Earth.” Confirming the fact that World View aims to meet the needs of the public, there are three key principles on which the service that will be active from 2024 is based: place, time, convenience / accessibility (the last criterion includes’ flexible financing options »).
When will the first trips start?
The company is still in the capsule design phase. Additionally, when operations are completed, World View will still need to obtain approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to begin commercial flights. The first capsules are scheduled to leave in 3 years and the place from where they will rise is the city of Page, Arizona, near the Grand Canyon. The intention of the whole team is to offer other places to start from, such as the Great Barrier Reef and the Pyramids.
The relationship with the competition
As for tourists fascinated by Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin ventures, Hartman thinks that “many of his clients will seek what we have to offer as an alternative way to experience our Earth, and that is why we do not consider that we are competing with them.” . S hile Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos said their spaceship could leave dozens of times a week in the future, Hartman is well aware of the “supply problems” of the related wind and weather balloon. In his opinion, “the demand will be limited” , but he does not rule out the possibility of reaching 100 trips a year.
