The actor Gaspard Ulliel is dead. The 37-year-old died after a serious skiing accident in France.
Grenoble – French actor Gaspard Ulliel has died at the age of 37 after a skiing accident. The French news agency AFP reported on Wednesday (01/19/2022) with reference to his management and his family.
Consistent media reports said the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon (01/18/2022) in the French ski resort of La Rosière in the Savoie department. Gaspar Ulliel is said to have collided with another driver on a ski slope. He was taken unconscious and seriously injured by helicopter to a hospital in Grenoble in the south-east of the country.
Accident reminiscent of Michael Schumacher: actor Gaspard Ulliel died
The case brings back memories of Michael Schumacher’s accident on December 29, 2013 in the Méribel ski resort in the French Alps. Schumacher had an accident between the Biche and Chamois slopes. He was also flown by helicopter to the hospital in Grenoble. Schumacher suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in the accident, from which he is recovering with his family, isolated from the public. Details about Michael Schumacher’s health are not known.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex wrote on Twitter that Ulliel and the cinema loved each other beyond measure. His performances as an actor will be viewed with a heavy heart from now on.
Actor Gaspard Ulliel died after a skiing accident
Gaspard Ulliel became known, among other things, with the film “Mathilde – Eine Große Liebe” by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. In 2005, he received a César for Best Young Actor for his role in the film. He also received international attention as a young Hannibal Lecter in Peter Webber’s “Hannibal Rising” in 2007.
Ulliel’s portrayal of the young Yves Saint Laurent in Bertrand Bonello’s “Saint Laurent” also won an award, for which he received the Prix Lumières for best actor. Most recently, he was honored as the leading actor in “Einfach das Ende der Welt” by French Canadian Xavier Dolans in 2017 with the César as best actor.
