The future of transport should be emission-free. To this end, new innovations are always sought. In Hamburg, an XXL cargo bike can now even replace a truck.
Hamburg – What sounds impossible is already a reality in Hamburg. DB Schenker's cargo bikes will be able to take over the work of trucks there in the future. The bikes are stationed in the Hamburg district of Altona and can be loaded there. From there, they can roll through Hamburg for around 70 kilometers at a speed of up to 25 kilometers per hour.
How exactly two XXL cargo bikes should replace 7.5-ton trucks in Hamburg is revealed here by 24hamburg.de *.
Deutsche Bahn logistics service provider DB Schenker confirms through branch manager Gert Ludt that “the XXL cargo bikes can replace two whole 7.5 trucks with diesel engines”. First of all, the two cargo bikes should stay in Hamburg. It is quite possible, however, that this will change in a few years and that cargo bikes will shape the traffic of the future. * 24hamburg.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
