Storms keep Germany in suspense. The next heat wave is looming – and violent thunderstorms that can cause severe damage.
Wiesbaden – The summer * just doesn’t come to rest. After an unusually cool start and a phase of intense heat, Germany has been hit by extreme thunderstorms and storms in recent weeks. And that shouldn’t end for now. An expert is already warning of the next heat wave – and new violent storms.
At the weekend, Hoch “Beate” initially brings friendly and dry weather *. But already on Sunday new clouds will come in from the west. “If you plan something on the weekend, you should use Saturday,” advises meteorologist Dominik Jung to Wetter.net. Because the weather is supposed to be nice in large parts of Germany – before the short nice weather will be over again next week. Then the storms come back. And in many regions of Germany, according to the weather expert, the situation could be precarious.
Weather in Germany: Thunderstorms take a short break
“Today and tomorrow the storms and thunderstorms * take a break”, so the forecast * from expert Jung. But the storms continued in the west from Sunday evening: just as violent as last week. “It’s amazing how the weather patterns of the past few weeks repeat themselves over and over again,” says Jung. The reason for this is still the air mass limits. They lie exactly above Germany and offer great potential for violent thunderstorms and storms.

Jung warns of heavy rain, hail * and squalls. He cannot rule out tornadoes in his prognosis either. Stability is not expected in the next 7 to 14 days. So the tropical summer continues. It stays at high temperatures, especially in the east of Germany. At the same time it gets very wet with heavy rain.
- Friday: 19 to 24 degrees, quite nice in the west and south, otherwise clouds, little rain
- Saturday: 20 to 27 degrees, often friendly and dry, barbecue weather for almost everyone
- Sunday: 21 to 26 degrees, new showers and thunderstorms from the west
- Monday: 21 to 26 degrees, changeable with sunshine and thunderstorms
- Tuesday: 20 to 31 degrees, changeable, significantly warmer in the east than in the west, in addition to the sun, strong thunderstorms
- Wednesday: 22 to 31 degrees, mix of sun, clouds and thunderstorms

Weather in Germany: Storm damage to be expected
As early as June, storms in Germany caused great damage. It should continue in July. A forecast of the severity of the thunderstorm can only be made at short notice, says Jung. “However, you can prepare yourself for plenty of damage potential again.”
The changeable weather is actually completely typical for Central Europe. But what remains unusual is the many storms that afflict Germany. These have become stronger and stronger in the past few summers. The effects of the storms are also becoming more severe. There is significantly more heavy rain and more hail than a few years ago.
