Twitch will now allow partners to stream on YouTube and Facebook

The days of Twitch partner exclusivity are over. Twitch, the most famous streaming platform today, informed partner streamers that it was lifting its long-standing exclusivity agreement that denied partners the ability to stream on other services. Now they will be able to broadcast on YouTube, Facebook Live and other platforms, although in some cases, Twitch still limits what they can do.

“You can now create live content on other platforms,” Twitch wrote, according to The Verge.

In an email, Twitch acknowledged that streamers use multiple platforms to connect with their communities and said this move would give them more flexibility to grow those audiences off-platform. Content creators can now stream live on other platforms, as long as they’re not on Twitch. This allows them to reach a wider variety of people and potentially attract them to watch on Twitch.

However, Twitch places limits on simultaneous broadcasts on “Twitch-like” platforms. Streamers are not allowed to broadcast on YouTube or Facebook for “extended periods”. However, Twitch says that simultaneous streaming to mobile services like TikTok and Instagram Live is allowed.
