US intelligence report on UFO sightings will be released soon. Many incidents remain unresolved. What to expect from the report.
Washington DC – The tension in the USA is rising. A report on unexplained phenomena in US airspace is due to be submitted to Congress by June 25. The report is drawn up by US intelligence services based on sightings mainly from the military, including pilots in the US Navy. They want to have regularly observed objects at hypersonic speeds at a height of several thousand meters. The content of classified documents became known even before the report became publicly available.
USA: UFO report shortly before release
According to the New York Times, citing senior government officials, US intelligence agencies have found no evidence that the sightings are spaceships or alien technology. However, this possibility is neither excluded nor can a predominant part of the UFO sightings be explained.
In the vast majority of the more than 120 reported incidents in the past two decades, neither the military nor US technology were involved. The fact that the Navy pilots had seen something inside that the government was supposed to keep secret is ruled out.

That is pretty much the only meaningful finding that can be derived from the documents. Above all, it is said that the phenomena observed in the air are difficult to explain, in particular the rapid acceleration of the objects and their ability to change direction quickly and submerge. The possible explanation of a weather balloon cannot be applied in all cases due to changes in wind speed.
Many UFO sightings in the US remain unexplained
The possible involvement of foreign military personnel has also been investigated. The secret service attributes at least some of the cases to experimental technology from US rivals – probably from Russia or China, it is said. A government official knew immediately that it was not about US technologies. He was concerned that Russia or China would experiment with planes operating at hypersonic speeds. That would have left US research behind.
It was only through pressure from Congressmen that the Pentagon and the secret services decided to recognize the sightings as a potential security risk. According to Michael Waltz, a member of the Republican MP, the briefings gave him the impression that “nobody knows what to do”. Waltz told CNN, “It’s disturbing. Is it extraterrestrial life or do our opponents or someone else have abilities that transcend anything we understand, pursue or counter? Either way, it’s really bad. ”Pilots reported seeing missiles with no engine or plume visible. They climb to heights of up to 30,000 feet (9.144 kilometers) and reach hypersonic speeds.
“Those things have been out there all day,” said Lieutenant Ryan Graves, pilot of an F / A-18F Super Hornet. At the speeds that he and other pilots had observed, “twelve hours in the air – eleven more than we expected”. Some sightings have been recorded on video. One from 2015 shows an object hurtling over the ocean at high speed while the pilots wonder what they are actually seeing.
USA: Secret service does not want to exclude aliens after UFO sightings
Former US President Barack Obama was able to increase public interest with a talk show appearance. “The truth is that there are recordings of objects in the sky that we do not know exactly what it is,” he said on the “Late Late Show” with James Corden. The trajectories and movements of the mysterious objects cannot be precisely explained, they are faster and more maneuverable than anything that exists in the US military. “We really have to find out what that is,” Obama continued.
One cannot expect clear findings from the UFO report. Even those who expect confirmation of extraterrestrial life will probably be disappointed. Former astronaut Chris Hadfield spoke up in view of the emerging alien hype – and called it the “height of stupidity”. (Lukas Rogalla)
