Un draft beer good!

For the “Day of Bad Word Games” on November 12th, a small but fine selection.

According to the forecast it will rain skins. Then at least the leather will be cheap. Hah! It’s finally November 12th again – the day of bad puns! Reason enough to present the loyal FR readership with what we consider to be the best – that is, the worst – word games. Otto already knew: it can get pus. And even if you don’t want to do anything with the cheap sayings, there’s nothing Walter Ulbricht left today but simply to endure it. As is well known, level is not a hand cream.

Nobody really knows why it is November 12th and what this day is for in the first place. And it doesn’t matter whether everything on that day revolves around homophony (the same pronunciation of differently written words), polysemy (ambiguity of the same terms), paronomasia (connection of similar-sounding words) or even more absurd blossoms of puns: Wayne is interested? Word game is word game. Everything clear?

On this occasion we don’t want to withhold this unbelievably good find on Twitter: “Just because you throw up on the train doesn’t make you groundbreaking …” How apt. Social media are the purest word game treasure trove anyway. But no matter how much you share there, Moses shares sea. And no matter how hard you train, Pal Dardai trains Hertha. And no matter how close you are, Goethe was a poet. And no matter how many CDs you have, Carl Benz has Mercedes. Apropos: What do Martin Luther King and a Mercedes have in common? Exactly: both are martyrs. And we still know from the past: You could trust the cat, but the catalog.

But then we’d better let it be good. There are certainly many better – that is, worse – word games, but these elude our Chemnitz. Therefore: Goodbye, Tschüsseldorf and San Frantschüssko! By the way: researchers found out, but went back in. And even if this text has no added value at all: the main thing is Karl Marx.
