The new vaccines for the currently widespread omicron variants BA.1 and BA.5 could already be approved in September. But the willingness to vaccinate is apparently still cautious.
Berlin – Vaccination against the corona virus with the adapted vaccines that are expected to be available in autumn is not yet an issue for many people in Germany. In a YouGov survey commissioned by the German Press Agency, 34 percent answered a corresponding question with “no” and 22 percent with “maybe”. 38 percent of those questioned answered in the affirmative. 6 percent did not provide any information or answered “don’t know”.
Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) reported on Friday that the European approval of the vaccines against the omicron variants BA.1 and BA.5 is expected in September. This is due on September 1st for BA.1 and September 27th for BA.5. The vaccines could be delivered the following day. “The federal government has procured both vaccines in sufficient quantities,” said Lauterbach. dpa
