After 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in the custody of the Iranian vice squad, protests erupted across the country.

On September 13, 2022, 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was arrested by vice squads in the Iranian capital of Tehran for wearing her headscarf incorrectly. She was dead a few days later. The authorities claim that she died of natural causes, but this is strongly doubted by all sides. Eventually, her funeral sparked protests that spread across the country.
