Update January 5th, 7.52 a.m.: The rainy weather has caused individual rivers in the north and east of Bavaria to overflow their banks. For the Itz at the Schenkenau level, for the Steinach in the Neustädter district of Fürth am Berg and the Main in Mainleus on Wednesday morning, according to the flood news service (HND), the second highest flood reporting level 3 applied but they will be back in the morning.
In addition, according to the current forecast, level 3 could also be reached on the Aisch near Laufermühle by Thursday. There are a total of four reporting levels for flood warnings. Weather news Bavaria: New warnings in the morning
Update January 5th, 6:06 am: What a start to the day for some regions in southern Bavaria. Three weather warnings from the DWD apply here in parallel. The districts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Berchtesgadener Land are affected. The DWD draws attention to the following weather phenomena:
- “Squalls”; in exposed locations at speeds of up to 90 km / h
- “Smoothness” through fresh snow
- “Light snow”; quantities up to 10 centimeters above 1000 meters
The state capital Munich got off comparatively lightly. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., there is a warning of “gusts of wind”.
Update January 4th, 7:02 p.m.: There is currently no DWD warning for Munich, the Isar metropolis is back in the green area. For parts of Bavaria, however, there are still warnings, especially the edge of the Alps is affected. In the districts of Oberallgäu and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the red alert is still in effect until 8 p.m. , Bft 10) and 120 km / h (33m / s, 64kn, Bft 12) from a south-westerly direction. Weather warning intensified: Storm reaches Munich – called specific dangers

Specifically, there is a risk of falling branches or other objects, according to the German Weather Service. The warning applies up to and including 7 p.m.
Update January 4, 8:20 a.m.: Before the winter comeback (see original message) Bavaria must first arm itself for rough weather: Stormy gusts and continuous rain are expected in the near future. As the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Tuesday, between 30 and 50 liters per square meter should fall near the Allgäu Alps and the low mountain ranges until Wednesday night.
In addition, the flood intelligence service (HND) in Bavaria warned that bodies of water could overflow their banks. According to the forecast, gusts of up to 60 kilometers per hour, and sometimes stormy gusts, will occur in many places.
