At the end of 2020, Spain had a total of 567 shopping centers and parks that make up 33,300 stores, to which 22 more will be added in 2021 according to data from the Spanish Association of Shopping Centers and Parks (AECC), but how many of Do these centers have dimensions that make them particularly large? It has been the Where to go Shopping website that has developed a ranking of the largest shopping centers in Spain, without taking into account the shopping parks (since although they are stores that share a location, they are not in the same building), and based on its gross leasable area, so that the five largest in our country are currently these:
Venice Port (Zaragoza)
In Zaragoza we find the largest shopping center in Spain. It is Puerto Venecia that was inaugurated in 2012 and which has more than 200,000 square meters . The only shopping center with such an immense dimension is on the outskirts of the Aragonese capital and has all kinds of shops and leisure services including the possibility of renting a boat to take a walk on a small lake.
Marineda City (A Coruña)
In A Coruña (Galicia) we find what is perhaps one of its most popular shopping centers as it has stores that are the most visited every weekend (such as Ikea or Leroy Merlin). Opened in 2011 and measuring 176,000 square meters, it welcomes more than 17 million visitors each year.
Parquesur (Leganés)
The largest shopping center in the Community of Madrid (opened in 1989 ) is the third largest in Spain with an area of 152,000 square meters currently occupied by 230 stores, also highlighting the cybernetic fountain in the courtyard that offers a nightly show of light and color that you can enjoy from the restaurants that surround it.
Xanadú (Arroyomolinos)
Also in Madrid we find another of the large shopping centers in Spain. Inaugurated in May 2003 , the Xanadu shopping center has 134,000 square meters that house 220 stores, including the physical AliExpress store.
Bonaire (Aldaya)
The shopping center located near the Valencia airport and inaugurated at the end of 2000 is the largest that we can find in the Valencian Community. It has 135,000 square meters and a total of 205 stores.
