We have already seen that filias, those attractions to certain situations or activities, are mostly (although there are some that are not) related to sexual tendencies . Clastomania is another of these paraphilias, although quite common.
This paraphilia consists in the fact that the focus of pleasure of the sufferer is not in the sexual relationship or copulation itself, but in an obsessive tendency to destroy or tear the clothes that the sexual partner in question is wearing. This paraphilia should not be confused with ex-mania in which pleasure is obtained by soiling the couple's clothes. Although they have the other's wardrobe in common, in clastomania there is no passion for dirt but for the curiosity of undressing the couple by cracking their clothes.
The etymology of this word comes from the Greek : klastos , which means broken, and mania , madness.
