October 20, 2011 will be part of the history of Spain , it was the day on which the terrorist group ETA put an end to its armed struggle. ETA is the name of the terrorist gang that operated in Spain for half a century. Initially, like other armed groups, they fought against the dictatorship and the established control measures. Founded in 1959, its only mission was to achieve the independence of the Basque Country from Spain , initially it did not include weapons, but after 3 years it began with a reign of terror. In 1962, in its first assembly in Baiona, the foundations of what would be its armed struggle were established. In 50 years of terror, 3,000 attacks, 864 deaths and more than 7,000 victims, it became one of the most active terrorist organizations in the history of Europe. After decades of negotiation, on October 20, 2011, the long-awaited statement was achieved in which the armed struggle was put to an end.
It would not be until 2018 when ETA would hand over the weapons . In this way, an end was put to a conflict that is still very present in Spanish society. There are many victims, the dead and people who will never be able to forget what they experienced.
