Located below the bladder, the prostate is a gland of the male urogenital system whose function is to provide the whitish fluid in which the sperm are bathed. From the age of 50, it begins to increase in volume, which involves a decrease in the caliber of the urethra that can cause urination disorders. The causes of its growth are two:
– Prostate adenoma . It is a benign tumor that affects eight out of ten men over the age of 65. Most have no symptoms and only a fifth are undergoing treatment.
– Prostate cancer . It is also very frequent – it affects a third of men over 70 years of age – but not all suffer from it, because it has a slow evolution. It can be cured with medications, laser techniques, and surgery.
