What is the safest way to lock our mobile phone?

Today we have different options to lock and unlock our mobile phone. From simple facial scans and a simple and simple PIN code, to fingerprint scanning, drawing lines or even location detection. But, which option to choose when we want to always use the one that could be considered the safest ?

The truth is that we must be clear from the outset what options are originally available, which will depend on the type of smart device we are using.

For example, if you use an iPhone , it is possible to use Touch ID fingerprint scanning and a PIN code, while it also allows you to opt for other more innovative options, such as facial recognition or scanning. It is a fairly innovative option, especially if we take into account that it is capable of detecting our face to display the content of notifications on the screen.

For example, if a WhatsApp message does not arrive, the screen will only show a new message notice. If anyone else picks up the phone and looks at the screen, no message will be displayed, but if the device is picked up by its owner and the system scans the face and detects it, part of the message content will be displayed even if you slide your finger on the screen. The screen will be unlocked automatically.

If you use Android , at the moment it is only possible to use the pattern option (that is, draw a simple pattern with the help of your finger), establish a PIN code of at least 4 digits, or choose a password , which can be understood both of digits as of letters. According to Google, this last option is one of the safest screen lock options, at least for the moment. But the options offered by Android will also depend on the brand of the device, since the Samsung Galaxy S8 was the first to introduce iris scanning as a new and innovative option.

On the other hand, Google has also made available other useful Smart Lock options for unlocking the Android terminal. For example, Trusted Devices (unlock when connected to a certain Bluetooth device), Trusted Places (unlock when the device is in a specific location), Trusted Face (facial recognition system), Trusted Voice (voice recognition) and On -Body Detection (tries to detect when the phone is actually on the person).

At this point, it is clear that we will always tend to choose the easiest locking option when unlocking the terminal later , even if it is not the safest choice even at first. However, experts agree that the most appropriate thing to do is based on how long that phone lock protection technology has been available on the market, and how many errors and / or problems it may end up with in the long run.

In any case, it is always possible to try different options for a while, and stay with the one that we like the most. In these situations, there is no doubt that comfort tends to take precedence over safety.
