The results obtained indicate thatalmost 100% of men and women have experienced a sexual fantasy in a pleasant and pleasant waythroughout their life, and around 80% of the surveyed sample report having experienced at least one sexual fantasy in a negative or unpleasant way at some point.
However, there are differences when comparing the frequency with which certain fantasies are had in both sexes. In particular, the scientists observed that women experience in a pleasant way, more frequently than men, intimate and romantic fantasies, having these thoughts approximately a few times a month. However, men think more often than they do in exploratory activities, related to group sex or seeking new sensations, such as “being promiscuous”, “swingers” or “participating in an orgy”. The frequency of these fantasies range from “once in a lifetime” to “once a year”.
Researchers from the University of Granada warn that having sexual fantasies “favors aspects such as sexual desire or arousal, which is why it is an indicator of sexual health.” In the framework of therapy, they affirm that it is necessary to take into account, in addition to the presence or absence of fantasies, the patient’s attitude towards them.
