Her role in Sister Act was one of her most successful. Goldberg talks about her dream cast for a sequel.
Los Angeles – The US actress and comedian Whoopi Goldberg says she is working on a sequel to her hit film “Sister Act” – and has now revealed who she wants to be in the cast. “I want Lizzo to come along,” the 66-year-old said on host Charlamagne tha God’s show “Hell of a Week.”
In addition to US singer Lizzo (34), Goldberg also named rapper Nicki Minaj (39, “Moment 4 Life”) and actress Keke Palmer (29, “Hustlers”) as other preferred candidates. “I want as many people as possible who want to have fun, because I really need some fun,” Goldberg continued.
The actress left open in the interview when the film should be released. The script should be ready by the end of October, Goldberg said. According to the trade journal “Deadline”, the film is to be released by Disney.
Released in 1992, Sister Act tells the story of a nightclub singer who ends up in a convent – one of Oscar-winner Goldberg’s (“Ghost”) most popular roles. A year later “Sister Act 2 – In Divine Mission” was released. The comedy was also staged as a musical. dpa
