As the French neuroscientist Serge Stolerú recently demonstrated after scanning the brains of several men before and during an orgasm, in the male gray matter there are two areas, the cingulate cortex and the amygdala, which instruct the rest of the brain to deactivate any sensation of I want to have sex immediately afterwards. This is accompanied by the massive secretion of two chemicals, oxytocin and serotonin, which induce deep sleep , as explained by Stolerú in the journal Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews . So much so that a recent survey carried out in Europe among 10,000 adults revealed that 80% of men fall asleep soundly after having sex , and even that 48% admit that they have fallen asleep at some time during the act.
The same does not happen to women, which explains why they are deprived of attention after having sex with their partners, as a recent study by the University of Michigan (USA) concluded.
