Wilsberg investigates behind the monastery walls

A lot of money has been stolen from the nuns around Abbess Helena. The 1.5 million came from speculation on the stock market. So discretion is required when Wilsberg investigates. But then there is a dead person.

Münster – Of all places, one and a half million euros in cash disappear in the Liebefrau Monastery in Münster. Everything from the nuns’ cash register.

The discretion of private detective Georg Wilsberg (Leonard Lansink) is required: In this episode of the ZDF crime series on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. he is on the go on behalf of the Lord. The episode “God’s Work and Satan’s Coal” also revolves around the question: Does money spoil character?

Wilsberg itself is pretty much burned down. His niece Alex (Ina Paule Klink), in the new job in the service of the real estate shark Hollerbach, even had to pay his rent. Buddy Ekki (Oliver Korittke) is also quite annoying with his austerity appeals. Wilsberg is only too happy to accept the order from the two nuns who are suddenly in his second-hand bookshop.

Monastery boss Sister Helena (Maren Kroymann) and her financial manager Sister Christa (Inka Friedrich) tell him about the theft of an enormous sum. Because with plenty of expertise and a happy investment, Sister Christa had made a lot out of little – and thus enabled the Order to save itself. The sisters wanted to put the 1.5 million euros they had earned into the urgently needed renovation of the dilapidated monastery. You can only prevent your home from being sold to the building contractor Arthur Hollerbach (Simon Licht), who is known for his windy business, by making your own investments. It would have to go with the devil if he didn’t somehow have a mess in this case too.

So Wilsberg quickly swaps his own bed for a modest room behind the monastery walls. Here he encounters all sorts of inconsistencies – and a little later also a slain construction worker. What does the death have to do with the theft? And are all women in the monastery really as godly and virtuous as their nuns’ clothes suggest? What is the pragmatic abbess hiding? Is the beautiful sister Lisa, who drives Inspector Overbeck (Roland Jankowsky) out of her mind, as innocent as she looks? And was Sister Christa’s speculative business really right?

In this particularly enjoyable episode, Wilsberg’s interaction with the nuns ensures hilarious dialogues. Above all, Katharina Blaschke stands out in her role as the talkative sister Gudula. Although she is “stupid as a meter of forest path”, as her co-sisters find, but a source of great value for Wilsberg’s investigations. dpa
