It was in 2015 when Nils Frahm , a German musician-composer, had the idea of organizing a day with which to celebrate his favorite instrument: the piano . And, to fix this date, he simply decided to count the keys on his keyboard , 88 in total. For this reason, Piano Day takes place on the 88th of each year; that is, on March 29 .

Little by little, this event has been gaining momentum and popularity. And, in order to promote it, not only has he uploaded different unpublished piano pieces over the years, but he also commissioned a very unique model from David Klavin, a Lithuanian craftsman living in Hungary.

It is, therefore, a global annual event that is celebrated on the 88th of the year, and which, in 2021, will be held on March 29. Its purpose? Create a platform for projects related to the piano with the aim of promoting the development of the musical dimensions of this instrument, and continuing to share the centuries-old joy of playing it.

While last year more than 100 events related to this day were held, in 2021, due to the current coronavirus pandemic in which we have been immersed for months, the organizers have encouraged users to create their own live concerts , submit your videos or participate in online events. All this in order to stay safe and enjoy music .

If you are as passionate about music as we are, and in particular the piano, we also want to celebrate it by discovering some of the best apps to learn musical notes . Are you accompanying us on this tour?
