Yet again! 6-meter hole in the road suddenly swallows Mercedes and Smart

The sight is just disturbing – but not uncommon in Rome: Because it happens again and again in the Italian capital that streets suddenly sag.

Rome (Italy) – It is actually clear that busy roads become bumpy over time and the asphalt suffers from the load. Especially in metropolises and cities, where thousands of cars are on the road every day. In order to ensure road safety, roads have to be regularly repaired and improved, even if that means additional costs. At least one should think so. In Rome, however, the whole thing obviously looks different.

Via Pereira collapsed almost 50 meters in length as early as 2018 and carried away seven cars, as reported by Spiegel among others. And now it has happened again, albeit not on the same scale as three years ago.

According to scientists, there should be a total of almost 400 places in Rome that are in danger of collapsing. This obviously also includes the Via Zenodossio. Because this is exactly where another hole has opened in the asphalt. According to eyewitnesses, two cars, a Mercedes and a Smart, were suddenly swallowed by the earth – in the middle of Rome. Why the asphalt suddenly gave way and the two vehicles sank into a six meter deep hole, you can find out more here. * * 24auto.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
