Who hasn’t felt tired, confused, and irritated after a bad night? We need to sleep well for our body and mind to function properly, and that sleep must also be of quality and restorative.
This is not a trivial matter, since we Spaniards sleep less than we should: how many people do you know who fulfill that utopia of 8 hours of sleep? We have very long working hours, we carry out our leisure activities at odd hours, prime time television is increasingly delayed … a whole Molotov cocktail that undermines our resting habits.
But sleeping well is health, and more and more campaigns are stressing the importance of a good night’s sleep. For example, the National Commission for the Rationalization of Spanish Hours fights for a series of measures that would facilitate the reconciliation between sleep and life. Some are relatively simple: return to the time zone that corresponds to us by geographical position (we should have the same time as Portugal, England and the Canary Islands) or advance the television schedules of the programs with the highest audience .
“It is not normal for ‘prime time’ programs to end many times after one in the morning. This is a good example of the irrationality of those responsible for the matter, even more so when compared with those of the rest of the countries in our European environment ”, explains Luis Casero, president of the organization.
This platform has also promoted the Rational Hours Seal , which can be obtained by companies and organizations that demonstrate in an audit the promotion of schedules that respect other areas of workers’ lives such as family, free time and, of course, rest night.
