It is not the first time that a wave rushes through the Höllentalklamm on the Zugspitze after heavy rain – but this time it costs human lives: a woman is dead, another person is missing.
Grainau – According to the investigators, the woman rescued dead from the Höllentalklamm is in all probability a 33-year-old from Lichtenfels in Upper Franconia.
An autopsy should clarify the identity beyond any doubt, said a spokesman for the police headquarters of Upper Bavaria South on Wednesday.
A missing person report fits the dead person very closely. The Garmisch-Partenkirchen criminal police currently assume that it is the 33-year-old. The result of the autopsy is expected to be available on Thursday.
The woman was rescued from the water on Tuesday morning. The rescue workers are still looking for another missing person – but since Wednesday with smaller search parties. Eight people were rescued from the gorge near Grainau in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district on Monday evening after the accident. dpa
