SUVs came to stay more than a decade ago. What nobody expected, at that time, is that they would reach all the segments, also the most urban. The taste for tall bodies has also reached the city, prompting firms to bring their crossover design to models of contained size and tight habitability. In turn, electrification has been positioned as the alternative chosen to counteract the emissions produced by transport, whether private or public. The Renault Captur E-Tech is one of the results of combining both trends. Its self-recharging hybrid drive system, which does not need to be plugged into an electrical outlet , endows it with the DGT ECO distinctive, with the advantages at the tax and urban circulation level that this implies. We have been able to drive it this summer, using it for regular trips but also on a trip to Galicia and these are the conclusions.
The Renault Captur E-Tech is also available in a plug-in hybrid variant, with 159 hp of power but close to five thousand euros more expensive than the tested model. The hybrid Captur, to dry, consists of three engines, one gasoline and two electric, in addition to the 1.2 kWh battery that feeds them with energy. The thermal block in question is an atmospheric four-cylinder and just 94 hp, so that the remaining 49 and 20 hp provided by the electric motors are quite necessary.
The tested Captur E-Tech model incorporates some optional details, such as the two-color combination of Lightning Blue with Black roof, but the RS Line package is already quite complete from the beginning. Below are the Intens and Zen levels , which have a tighter equipment and opt for a less sporty decoration.
In terms of behavior, all of them offer the same feeling of comfort and ease of driving. The hybrid Captur does not stand out in any particular way, beyond the extra power offered by the electric thrusters in accelerations and recoveries. You can configure a Captur E-Tech to your liking on the brand’s page, steps that we have completed to extract the final price of the unit: 28,290 euros. In the gallery we tell you more about the sensations behind the wheel.
