After more than 18 months since the beginning of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, several countries have decided that it is time to adopt a model of ‘living with COVID’.
Today we talk about five nations that have adopted new strategies:
Denmark
On September 10, this country lifted all restrictions regarding the coronavirus that were in force in the country. The Danish Government considered that COVID-19 “was no longer a critical threat to society”.
“Although we are in a good moment, the pandemic is not over. And the Government will not hesitate to act quickly if the disease again threatens important functions in our society, “explained Magnus Heunicke, Denmark’s Minister of Health, in an interview with CNN.
Singapore
In June, the government of this country announced that it would try to control the outbreaks with vaccines and contact tracing instead of restricting the lives of citizens.
Thailand
Next month, Thailand plans to reopen Bangkok and other popular destinations for foreign visitors. According to CNN, the Southeast Asian nation is trying to revive its tourism industry despite rising infection numbers.
South Africa
In South Africa, several COVID-19 restrictions have also begun to be relaxed as infection rates in the country decline. These measures include a shortened nationwide curfew, gatherings of more people, and reduced restrictions on the sale of alcohol.
chili
On September 15, in this country where almost 87% of citizens who can be vaccinated already have the complete guideline , it was announced that there will be measures to reopen the country to international tourism as of October 1. “It is important to point out that this is the first step and we can continue to advance as long as we maintain adequate health conditions,” Chilean Undersecretary for Tourism José Luis Uriarte explained to CNN.
