The year 2020 was very special for teachers as they were the leaders of the crisis that shook the planet due to the coronavirus pandemic that we still suffer. Every year on October 5, World Teachers’ Day is celebrated , to whom we pay tribute for their enormous work in education and, ultimately, for their daily contribution to our society.
Why is it celebrated on October 5?
It was the International Labor Organization and UNESCO that decided in 1994 that the work carried out by all teachers in the world should be recognized worldwide.
In this 2021, UNESCO is emphasizing that the different governments bet on providing teachers with more elements to be catalysts for recovery at a global level. That is why this year’s theme for World Teachers’ Day is’ Teachers at the center of educational recovery ‘. That is why teachers have a favorite place for the development of nations in the well-known 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, where education must play a fundamental role in the coming years.
Thanks to this day, during the next five days, commemorative events will be held around the world to celebrate this day, with teachers at the center of the celebration.
Teaching at a global level
The different institutions are trying to give the teacher greater support at the global level. According to many studies, the group of teachers is one of the most undervalued on the planet and almost the majority of teachers in the world have less than optimal working conditions that, in many cases, sometimes do not even allow them to live.
Many of these teachers complain about the lack of help from the institutions when it comes to carrying out their work, innovating or posing new challenges to students that really pose a challenge and an incentive when it comes to learning in their day to day.
For this reason, in 2021, World Teachers’ Day becomes a challenge for educational institutions in terms of trying to change the educational development model in the different countries of the world.
By giving importance to the education sector, only in this way, as affirmed by UNESCO, will we be able to create a more just and egalitarian society and achieve the objectives set for the future of future generations.
