Formula 1 until 2024 on Pirelli tires

Formula 1 has extended the contract with its tire supplier by one year and is relying on Pirelli until at least 2024. This was announced by the premier class and the Italian manufacturer on Friday. The background to the new agreement is the postponement of the rule revolution in the wake of the corona crisis.

Formula 1 had originally planned the introduction of larger 18-inch tires for this year, but the new regulations will only take effect from the 2022 season.

The tires, which were developed with great effort, would then only have a guaranteed service life of two years until the end of the contract in 2023, now they will be fitted at least until the end of 2024. Formula 1 is currently still using much smaller 13-inch tires.
