In Brandenburg, eight residents died with the corona virus, 42 are sick. The leader entered the home despite a positive test result.
Brandenburg – There was an outbreak of the corona virus in a retirement home in Altenhof in the state of Brandenburg. According to a report by the radio station Antenne Brandenburg from the RBB, eight of the sick residents have already died. Another 42 residents are currently infected with the virus.
The head of the facility himself also tested positive for the virus. After the test result, he entered the home again. In doing so, he violated the quarantine imposed on him. The RBB continues to report that a fine is now running against the head of this. However, his actions were not the cause of the corona outbreak in the nursing home. In addition to the 42 sick residents, 15 employees of the facility are also infected with the corona virus.

How the virus got into the facility remains unclear. Medical officer Heike Zander explained to the radio station Antenne Brandenburg that the risk of an infection chain was already increased in the facility due to a low vaccination rate of the employees: “It is a very unfavorable situation in this home because the residents are quite well vaccinated, but the employees and female employees have a relatively low vaccination rate, ”Zander told Antenne Brandenburg. “In this facility it is only about 50 percent.”
According to the RBB, the spokeswoman for the home carrier pointed out that there is still no compulsory vaccination. It was regularly informed about vaccination offers in the facility. Ultimately, however, the vaccination remains a voluntary decision. The medical officer has now urged the facility to encourage employees to be vaccinated with one of the corona vaccines.
As a result of the quarantine, 15 of the employees at the facility are now absent. The staff situation in the home is correspondingly tense. Temporary workers have now been used to replace the absent employees. The personnel situation in hospitals is also worsening again with the increasing corona numbers in the region. (n / A)
